We have been here for almost a week now and we thought we would tell you something about school and everyday life here in Shanghai. We have school from Monday to Friday. The lessons start at 8.30 a.m. and end at 2.30 p.m. From next week we'll have three days (from Monday to Wednesday) of practice in a general hospital and this schedule lasts to the end of pur exchange. We got our uniforms for practical training the day before yesterday - the boys got a jacket that looks like a doctor's uniform and the girls got a long shirt, trousers and a "cute" hat. We have a 1,5-hour lunch break and we can eat at the school cafeteria, dormitory or a diner near school. The food in school cafeteria is pretty good and there are many options to choose from. We study spoken Chinese, traditional chinese medicine (acupuncture etc.), taiji and herbs. The lessons are usually double classes (2x45 min.). We had an orientation on Monday here at school and we saw the teaching facilities of the campus. They were surprisingly modern and there were some things more advanced than in NKUAS.

Our dormitory has seven storeys and we live in the 7th floor with other exchange students. There are 14 students from Finland and 2 students from Denmark. We live in double rooms with a roommate and we have common showers and bathrooms. The toilet seat is not really a seat, there is only a hole in the floor and a button to flush. It was a shock at first but now we're used to it. At least our muschles in our thighs will be stronger...The shower is interesting: sometimes hot water, sometimes not so hot water. In the dormitory they keep the windows from the hallway open so it's pretty cold! We didn't realize that when we packed in Finland.
